Furthering Whitecode apprenticeship training with the CIBSE T&D scheme

To ensure Whitecode meets its own stringent quality standards throughout the company, each apprentice is taken through an internal training and development programme. Looking to further enhance the skills, competence and development of its workforce, Whitecode applied for accreditation to the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers’ (CIBSE) Training & Development scheme. The application process involved taking the existing internal training documents and process, and developing it in line with CIBSE requirements.

As a company that prides itself on providing value by design and fulfilling client needs, ensuring the finest training and development to all employees is crucial. While Whitecode has been providing assistance to its trainees and graduates to help them gain CIBSE membership for over 10 years, taking advantage of the CIBSE T&D scheme will help further improve training methods and processes. Whitecode benefitted from the feedback and advice from the CIBSE panel throughout the process, helping to improve the existing training scheme and ensuring the trainees receive the best possible support throughout.

The accredited programme develops engineers’ skills and competence toward achieving Engineering Council registration and chartered membership of CIBSE. It has been met with great positivity throughout the company despite its initial teething problems.

Whitecode currently has 17 trainees, who are all being encouraged to become Chartered when their knowledge and experience allows them. Doing so will highlight their knowledge, skills, experience and commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), opening the door to career progression and leadership development. 3 employees have already successfully completed their ACIBSE membership since the inception of the scheme a year ago.

Whitecode’s Technical Director Jason Tramontano, said: “Our experience is amongst the best in the industry and our ability to design systems to meet a client’s needs is why we are a leading consultancy in the UK”.

“In line with our values, we have an in-house apprenticeship scheme to train and give young people an opportunity to progress by training them as engineers. Our directors are highly involved with our apprentices, giving them first-hand access to a wealth of engineering experience. This is part of our vision to create a happy workforce with a desire to deliver excellence."
