Ramboll is the first CIBSE training and development provider in the Middle East and Asia

Global architecture, engineering and consultancy company Ramboll has been approved by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) as a Training & Development (T&D) provider for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India – the first consultancy firm in the Middle East and Asia to achieve this.

CIBSE T&D Scheme is an approved in-company training program that develops engineers’ skills and competence towards achieving Engineering Council registration and corporate membership of CIBSE.

Developing engineers registered on an approved T&D program are paired with an experienced mentor, who provides guidance and acts as a sounding board as they develop their competence for Engineering Council registration.

Head of MEP for Ramboll in the Middle East Imran Shaikh said he was delighted that Ramboll’s expertise in building services engineering in these regions had been recognised by CIBSE as reaching an exceptional standard to be regarded as a training provider for the next generation of building services engineers.

“T&D is a way for trainee engineers to gain real-world experience and learning opportunities right from the start of their careers. Ramboll invests in training and development because it is central to the growth of our industry and the success of our people and projects,” Mr Shaikh said.

“Ramboll is looking forward to partnering with CIBSE for the long-term growth of the building services engineering industry.”

To become a certified CIBSE T&D provider, a company must meet strict assessment criteria, including providing details of the training, ensuring that staff are qualified and demonstrating an ability to provide ongoing mentoring.

The CIBSE T&D Committee welcomed Ramboll’s UAE and India businesses to the T&D Scheme.

“Ramboll has developed a well-supported T&D scheme and CIBSE congratulates Ramboll on the approval of the scheme. CIBSE looks forward to seeing the next cohort of well-trained apprentices,” a representative for the T&D Committee said.

CIBSE T&D accreditation will be assessed every three years with Ramboll’s initial accreditation running to 2027.

Whitecode Consulting

Furthering Whitecode apprenticeship training with the CIBSE T&D scheme

To ensure Whitecode meets its own stringent quality standards throughout the company, each apprentice is taken through an internal training and development programme. Looking to further enhance the skills, competence and development of its workforce, Whitecode applied for accreditation to the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers’ (CIBSE) Training & Development scheme. The application process involved taking the existing internal training documents and process, and developing it in line with CIBSE requirements.

As a company that prides itself on providing value by design and fulfilling client needs, ensuring the finest training and development to all employees is crucial. While Whitecode has been providing assistance to its trainees and graduates to help them gain CIBSE membership for over 10 years, taking advantage of the CIBSE T&D scheme will help further improve training methods and processes. Whitecode benefitted from the feedback and advice from the CIBSE panel throughout the process, helping to improve the existing training scheme and ensuring the trainees receive the best possible support throughout.

The accredited programme develops engineers’ skills and competence toward achieving Engineering Council registration and chartered membership of CIBSE. It has been met with great positivity throughout the company despite its initial teething problems.

Whitecode currently has 17 trainees, who are all being encouraged to become Chartered when their knowledge and experience allows them. Doing so will highlight their knowledge, skills, experience and commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), opening the door to career progression and leadership development. 3 employees have already successfully completed their ACIBSE membership since the inception of the scheme a year ago.

Whitecode’s Technical Director Jason Tramontano, said: “Our experience is amongst the best in the industry and our ability to design systems to meet a client’s needs is why we are a leading consultancy in the UK”.

“In line with our values, we have an in-house apprenticeship scheme to train and give young people an opportunity to progress by training them as engineers. Our directors are highly involved with our apprentices, giving them first-hand access to a wealth of engineering experience. This is part of our vision to create a happy workforce with a desire to deliver excellence.”
