Water Pressure Control in Tall Buildings
The speaker discusses how best to achieve safe pressure control in tall buildings, where booster water pressures can reach very high levels.
Aimed at public health engineers and mechanical engineers, the CPD delivers an overview of the engineering challenges faced by design engineers to provide safe, low noise and energy efficient boosted potable water services to all occupants within very tall and/or very large buildings.
Pressure control applications are covered for both cold and hot water distributed services, including a focus on surge protection methods.
Also discussed are the regulations and industry standards to which potable water services are designed.
Attendees will gain an insight into the correct application of pressure control valve equipment and an appreciation of the combination of methods used to prevent and protect against damaging high pressure surges.
Thermal Balancing in Distributed DHW Circuits
The speaker discusses various methods of combating Legionella, one of the main health risk areas in large domestic hot water distribution systems. Aimed at public health engineers and mechanical engineers, the CPD delivers an overview of the risks and various methods to prevent proliferation of the bacteria, and confirms some of the current standards to which domestic hot water systems are designed. Thermal balancing can play a major part in reducing the risk of bacteria such as Legionella from proliferating in water systems, the CPD also includes a section on how to maximise the effectiveness of thermal balancing application.
Attendees will gain an insight into the potential limitations of the traditional static balancing method, be updated with the current design standards and will understand the advantages and application of thermal balancing methods.
Backflow Prevention for Wholesome Water Supplies
The speaker discusses the importance of protecting potable water supplies, particularly in commercial and industrial buildings, from contamination caused by various conditions of backflow. Aimed at public health and mechanical engineers, the CPD delivers an overview of the Water Regulations, including an insight into the guidance documents available from WRAS.
The 5 fluid risk categories are also covered, including the corresponding backflow prevention devices as detailed in the EN1717 standard.
Attendees will benefit from a greater understanding of Water Regulations, the importance of maintaining clean and healthy wholesome water supplies and gain knowledge of the available types of backflow preventer devices.
