CIBSE is looking for an experienced Finance Director to join a dynamic Chief Executive and team of Directors in delivering against their ambitious growth agenda.

The Role:

  • Based in Central London and reporting to the Chief Executive, the role is responsible for creating, driving, and delivering a modern and effective Finance function.
  • Heading up the Finance Team and leading the department in the pursuit of world class systems and the provision of timely financial analysis and reporting, including monthly management accounts.
  • Conducting efficient budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure the business's objectives can be supported.
  • Developing financial analysis activities within the Finance Team, with a focus on the provision of a highly effective business partnering service to the rest of the business.
  • Continuously and methodically reviewing and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of internal financial control and the operation of the accounting functions, as well as being part of the wider CIBSE leadership team with responsibility for growing the Institution.
  • Delivering the statutory reporting and accountability duties defined in Company and Charity law and ensuring the best business practice is followed at all times.
  • Provide inspiring leadership and management of the finance department through the creation of an integrated team and the support and guidance of its personnel.

 The Candidate Will:

  • Be professionally qualified with a depth of experience in leadership.
  • Have a track record of transformation and building the financial infrastructure needed to support the ambition of the organisation.
  • Have a forensic level of attention to detail, coupled with the ability to question, challenge, and improve long-standing structures, beliefs, and policies.
  • An undeniable passion for the numbers and a desire to create processes that provide clear and comprehensive data.
  • Have an appreciation for the nuances of the not-for-profit sector. Not-for-profit sector experience is beneficial but not essential, the ability to get to grips with the complexities of charity finance within a commercial landscape is, however, essential.
  • Have vision, innovation, creativity, and drive.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
