Job purpose
You will be responsible for spearheading CIBSE’s efforts to digitise its engineering data and develop software tools to empower building services engineers. This pivotal position requires a blend of strategic thinking, industry knowledge, and commercial know-how.
Specific accountabilities
- Digitisation Strategy: Manage the transformation of CIBSE's data into machine-readable and human-readable formats, liaising with CIBSE members and CIBSE’s industry partners to understand their needs and preferences.
- Software Tool Development: Manage the development of digital tools tailored to the needs of building services engineers.
- Commercial strategy: Manage the commercial development of CIBSE's digital tools and data, collaborating with CIBSE Services and CIBSE's Marketing Department to generate new revenue streams.
- Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and innovations relevant to the building services industry.
Qualifications/ Skills
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or related field.
- Proven experience in digital transformation initiatives, data management, and software development within a relevant industry context.
- Strong technical proficiency in data analytics, database management, programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript), and software development methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute long-term digitisation strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the fields of digital technology and building services engineering.
Desirable
- Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or related field.
- Familiarity with building services engineering principles, standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA, ASHRAE), and industry-specific software tools (e.g., Autodesk Revit, EnergyPlus) is highly desirable.
