CIBSE Fellows Masterclass: Fiona Cousins

The 4th CIBSE Fellows Masterclass will be held on October 9th at 5.30pm arrivals for 6 pm start at AECOM, 2 Leman Street. The President of CIBSE, Fiona Cousins, will talk to us about her career pathway, featuring the people and events that have inspired her.

Fiona Cousins is a mechanical engineer and sustainability consultant by profession. She spent the early part of her career engaged in HVAC design, with a specialization in high-performance design and has delivered many complex projects, with multiple stakeholders, including museums, archives, trading floors, laboratories, libraries and performing arts centres. She has also engaged extensively with industry organizations specializing in sustainable outcomes, resilience, and design, as both a volunteer and strategic consultant.

Fiona is deeply committed to improving the impact of building projects, using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a guide. She brings a range of skills and expertise to this commitment, and will talk both about how building performance expectations have changed, and continue to change, and about how we, as engineers, can make sure that our work has the best possible impact and outcomes.

Fiona is a frequent presenter on transformative design, resilience, and sustainability. She gave the 2016 CIBSE Annual Lecture: How Building Services Engineers can save Civilization and is the co-author of the book Two Degrees: Climate Change and the Built Environment. She also gave a TEDx talk called ‘Actioning our Hope’.

Fiona Cousins is the Chair of the Americas Region at Arup. She is an Arup Fellow and a member of the Group Board.
