CIBSE is delighted to be a Signatory of The Tomorrow’s Engineers Code, working with other organisations to increase the diversity and number of young people in engineering.

Co-created by and for the engineering community, The Code asks Signatories to commit to improving the quality, inclusivity, targeting and reach of activities designed to inspire young people and to build and share understanding of how to do so.

CIBSE is committed to promoting engineering to young people, and demonstrating what a varied and rewarding career the industry has to offer. We will continue to develop initiatives to attract diverse talent, improve awareness of the opportunities across the industry, how to access them, and once here, ensure they find it a welcoming place. We look forward to exchanging ideas with the other Code Signatories.

Last year, CIBSE has launched its STEM Ambassador programme, connecting professional engineers to schools and colleges to promote building services engineering to students, helping inspire students and provide an insight into the career.

CIBSE also has a range of Building Services Careers Guides to help guide students from Year 7, through to GCSE and A-levels, and their parents, on what a career in the industry has to offer and routes to entry.

This week saw the launch of the CIBSE Flush Challenge, an educational game designed to engage pupils aged 9 to 11 in the fascinating world of building services engineering. The game can be used as part of a STEM Ambassador outreach activity in schools.
