Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer

Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer – Decarbonisation & Net Zero - to £44,000 + c.10% Bonus + Package. I am working exclusively with a global Real Estate Consultancy, recruiting for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join an established M&E team consisting of some of the best Engineers in the industry, to focus on the Decarbonisation of existing buildings. We are keen to speak to individuals who are interested in transferring their Electrical Building Services Design skills Client- Side into the Commercial Property sector. The aim of decarbonisation & Net Zero team is primarily to tackle Decarbonisation of existing buildings. Still working within their established M&E team but focusing on Decarbonisation and Net Zero strategies across my clients managed estates & portfolio’s. The key consideration here is the scale of the impact that you could have on the Decarbonisation of buildings across the UK and Europe. Essentially engineering solutions that work towards optimising client’s portfolios. A strategic service offering that involves overseeing building performance evaluations, analysing data, and implementing optimisation strategies through design to enhance energy efficiency. Remuneration: Salary £44,000 Discretionary Bonus c.10% per annum Company pension 8% employer contribution Life assurance 4 x salary 25 days holiday Healthcare What you’ll do in the traditional sense: Carry out full detailed design stages 0-7 Client advisory directly with end user clients Project management & coordination with other engineering and real estate disciplines Prepare specifications, reports, design drawings and budget costs to programmes Peer review and overseeing external consultant designs Client/Project management What you’ll do in relation to Decarbonisation and Net Zero: Identify and propose design interventions that will reduce energy consumption and improve performance of buildings Attending sites to survey buildings to obtain information Complete technical feasibility studies for sustainable design interventions. Collaborate and coordinate with other consultants Manage specialist modelling consultants and collaborate with the wider team of consultants to generate the report deliverables Present proposals to clients and external project team members Develop design to implement proposed interventions In Addition to the Design requirements above, the suitable candidate would ideally have the following engineering decarbonisation experience - This is a wish list, so not all essential but gives an idea of the additional skills you could learn in the role: Have a passion to take action to address climate change Competent producing reports and technical studies Heat pump and decarbonised/electrified heating strategy design experience Refurbishment project experience Have an understanding of EPC and CIBSE TM54 modelling methodology Understanding of and experience on Net Zero carbon projects Understanding and project experience with BREEAM assessments Experience working on NABERS DFP projects or NABERS Energy Experience with IES and/or TAS thermal modelling software. Essentially, a client-side role that will give you direct access to clients, working on the client’s behalf as part of the client team as the client’s representative. They have an established team of experienced M&E Engineers, from which to continue your leaning and development. There is structured training for all employees to CEng and a clear route of progression. As an Associate, you'll work closely with their directors and be responsible for leading a range of interesting projects across the UK and abroad. You'll become a key part of a connected and collaborative team comprising MEP Design Engineers, Building Physics Engineers, Revit Technicians, and Sustainability Engineers. Youll help mentor and manage a team of Mechanical Engineers (ranging from Graduate, Intermediate / Engineer, and Seniors) whilst also assisting in driving continuous innovation and best practices across the built environment. As an early pioneer of using digital tools to improve the design process, BIM is ingrained in their DNA. They produce construction-level 3D models for design coordination and systems verification on most of their projects. However, on the flip side the majority of their staff can still sit with an architect or client and produce engaging concept sketches using a blank piece of paper and pencil. It's also really encouraging that their founding principals of quality, staff retention, and innovation remain core values and that they promote a good work life balance. You'll enjoy collaborating in a team of around 30 experts, who all share the same passion for designing innovative, low-energy buildings.
