CIBSE is continuing to strengthen its international presence with the launch of a new CIBSE Oman Subcommittee, marking the latest development in the Institution’s growing programme of activity across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The new Oman network forms part of CIBSE MENA’s continued expansion, creating a stronger local connection for building engineering professionals in Oman and providing new opportunities to engage with CIBSE’s global professional community, technical expertise and knowledge.

The establishment of the Oman Subcommittee will help strengthen CIBSE’s engagement with the country’s growing engineering community, while creating new opportunities for professionals, students and organisations to connect with colleagues across the wider MENA region.

Ragu Mathukumar appointed Chair of the Oman Subcommittee

Leading this new milestone for CIBSE in Oman will be Ragu Mathukumar, who has been appointed Chair of the Oman Subcommittee.

Ragu is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and Fellow of CIBSE, with more than 27 years of experience in building services engineering, MEP design, project delivery and engineering leadership across the Middle East.

He currently serves as MEP Expert and Client Design Lead with OMRAN Group, providing strategic engineering governance for major luxury hospitality and mixed-use developments. His professional experience spans major international hospitality, aviation, infrastructure and government developments across the region.

Ragu is also actively involved in supporting the next generation of engineers and the wider profession through his work as a CIBSE membership and CEng assessor, university external examiner and mentor. He is passionate about engineering excellence, sustainability and professional development.

Connecting Oman with CIBSE MENA

The Oman Subcommittee will provide a stronger local connection to CIBSE MENA’s growing programme of activity, creating opportunities for members and the wider engineering community to connect, share knowledge and engage with the profession.

Through the Oman network, professionals will be able to participate in a range of activities, including technical webinars, in-person events, networking opportunities, the CIBSE Student Design Competition, Awards, conferences and other professional development initiatives.

The new network will also provide an opportunity for CIBSE to better understand and respond to the needs and interests of building engineering professionals in Oman, while strengthening connections between the country and the wider CIBSE community across MENA and internationally.
