Look at how the Institution Officers, Board and Council Members are selected below
The Board is the Institution's governing body.
It is made up of seven Officers that comprise of the
- President
- President-Elect
- Three Vice-Presidents
- Honorary Treasurer
- Immediate Past President, and
- Five elected members (these are the positions for which nominations are currently open)
Under the new arrangements, the Vice Presidents and Honorary Treasurer are appointed by the existing Board.
The President-Elect and Board Member positions may be subject to an election if there are more candidates than vacancies.
As a member of the Board or Council, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Influence the profession: Play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of CIBSE and the wider industry.
- Drive change: Lead initiatives that address key challenges facing the profession, including sustainability, innovation, and professional development.
- Expand your network: Collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, academics, and industry leaders who are passionate about building services engineering.
- Enhance your leadership skills: Gain valuable experience in governance, strategy, and leadership that can enhance your career.
The Council is a much larger consultative body that advises the Board on Institution policy.
It is made up of representatives of the Regions, Societies, Groups and Standing Committees, and has several places for elected members. Basis current vacancies, for 2025 we are looking for nominations from three members only.
We are seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals who:
- Share our vision: A commitment to promoting excellence in the built environment.
- Bring diverse perspectives: We encourage applications from underrepresented groups, to ensure a broad range of voices are heard.
- Are passionate about the future of the profession: A desire to contribute to the ongoing development of building services engineering and the built environment at large.
