Open for Entries and reimagining building performance
CIBSE is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2025 CIBSE ANZ Young Engineers Awards, a prestigious event dedicated to recognising and celebrating the brightest emerging talents in the building services industry as well as the organisations and individuals that support them.
This year, the awards theme is "Building Performance," and video entries from students, graduates and young engineers will showcase the innovative thought leadership of young professionals who are asked to reimagine the way building performance is perceived.
The awards function will take place at Rydges Melbourne, on Thu 23 October 2025. These awards provide a platform to honor outstanding achievements across various categories, and entries are open until Wednesday, 23 July 2025 in the following categories:
- Mark Griffin Award - Student
- Haris Moraitis Award - Graduate
- Jack Perie Award - Young Engineer
- Jeff Robinson Award - Engineering Advocate

On 13 August, a group of curious engineers stepped into the frosty world of Snowplanet in Silverdale, Auckland — the Southern Hemisphere’s only indoor ski venue. On 31 July 2025, nearly 40 emerging professionals gathered at Northrop Consulting Engineers’ Sydney office for Aspirational Engineers — a joint event by CIBSE YEN NSW and CIOB’s Tomorrow’s Leaders. When we talk about the “value” of a building, what do we mean? Is it the numbers equating to leasing fees, the quantity of investment capital or the budget for a development project? Hearing the insights from the speakers at the first seminar of the 2025 CIBSE ANZ Seminar Series, Building Performance: Imagination to Reality, the idea of “value” aligns more closely with matters such as human wellbeing, climate adaptation and resilience, social inclusion and opportunities to innovate in design, materials and operations.
