Book NowRichard will talk about the transition to Net Zero will require a significant increase in the number of low carbon technologies (LCTs) being connected to the Low Voltage (LV) Network, including Electric Vehicles (EV), Heat Pumps (HP) and Photovoltaics (PV). As LCTs are mainly single phase and an inverter-based technology, they may have a negative impact on power quality (PQ), particularly, harmonics. The following points will be covered during the discussion:
• What are harmonics and why are they detrimental
• Why is inverter-based technology a source of harmonics
• How are harmonics managed on the LV network
• How are individual products assessed for harmonics and why is impedance important
• Ongoing work to refine the approach to LV harmonics management
