Engage with other experts, have your voice heard, and join us for a day of insightful discussion on advancing the use of biochar in buildings

This event is a part of the “Biochar project” and will be a fantastic opportunity to explore biochar’s applications in the construction industry. It will also provide a platform for networking with other professionals and experts in the field.

Your participation would be incredibly valuable, and we would also greatly appreciate it if you could circulate this invitation within your network. This will help ensure the event benefits from a broader range of experts and perspectives.

  • Join us at Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh Campus for the launch event of the UK Research and Innovation funded project ‘Advancing the use of biochar in buildings: A multistakeholder study’. The project vision is to develop a decision support framework to enhance biochar use in the UK building industry.

  • We are specifically eliciting participation from industry and academia experts in the fields of development of biochar products, manufacturing processes, and implementation and policy-making for low carbon building material.

  • Biochar is a carbon-rich, chemically stable substance produced by heating organic biomass (e.g., municipal, agricultural, and forestry waste) in the absence of oxygen (pyrolysis). The inclusion of biochar as a building material offers significant potential to combat climate change and enables buildings to act as carbon sinks.

Who should attend

We welcome experts from the industry and academics, with an interest in biochar production, its uses in various domains, including building materials, and policy-making regarding low-carbon building materials.

We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of energy in buildings. Please register at your earliest convenience to secure your place.

  • Come along and take part in a day filled with insightful presentations, workshops and networking opportunities focussed on the integration of biochar as a building material.

  • Not only will it be informative, but you can also have your say in the exciting future of sustainable buildings!
