This new CIBSE conference builds on CIBSE's participation at COP29 and the launch of the Global Cooling Pledge in 2024, setting collective global targets to reduce cooling-related emissions by 68% from today by 2050, significantly increase access to sustainable cooling by 2030, and increase the global average efficiency of new air conditioners by 50%.
The built environment community are central to achieving these goals. The aim of this conference is to share examples of what is already being done and share ideas and contribute to the road map to achieve the targets that have already been laid out.
Heating and cooling are central areas covered within the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, including the trajectory for the decarbonisation of heating and cooling networks and limits on energy use for space heating in certain sectors, with a view to to expanding this to others.
With a new CIBSE sustainable cooling group launching in early 2025 and updates to regulatory compliance, this conference will serve as a critical platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
