CIBSE T&D Moderator - Role Description

CIBSE Training & Development (T&D) schemes are approved in-company training programmes designed to support the development of engineers, helping them build professional competence and achieve Engineering Council registration and corporate membership of CIBSE.

To maintain the quality and relevance of these schemes, CIBSE relies on volunteer Moderators to assess and review them.

Role Responsibilities

As a T&D Moderator, you will be expected to participate in at least one approval visit per year, either for a new or existing scheme.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-visit preparation

    • Review the scheme’s submission documents

    • Allocate approximately half a day for preparation

  • Accreditation visit

    • Attend the visit virtually (typically 0.5 days in duration)

  • Post-visit review

    • Assess the Accreditation Decision Report

    • Review any action plans required for the scheme to gain or maintain approval

    • Allocate approximately half a day for post-visit follow-up

Training and Support

  • Full training will be provided virtually

  • As part of your onboarding, you will observe one accreditation visit as a trainee Moderator
