The SLL are delighted to announce the finalists for this year's Young Lighter competition.
- Jess Keates, Hoare Lea - Beyond the Line, Applying our understanding of the effects of spatial frequency and contrast on visual discomfort.
- Kate Turley, Chroma Lighting - A tailored dynamic lighting and sensing paradigm to support wellbeing for people living with dementia.
- Samuel Walker, OBS Lighting Consultants - Observe: An interactive educational platform.
- Tammy Julleekeea, dpa Lighting Consultants - Re-illuminating the waters: Protecting eco-systems beyond surface level.
This year there was a very high standard of second stage submissions, and all should be commended for their work.

The in-person final is being held on the 22nd October, with Jess presenting in Oxford, Kate in Edinburgh, Samuel in Leeds and Tammy in London and broadcasted to all the other venues, with audiences being given the opportunity to take part in the voting. For more information and to register.
The winner will be announced at Light2Perform on the 13th November 2024.
The competition has run for 29 years and is for anyone under 30 years of age who is interested in light and lighting, regardless of background or education.
The winner will be awarded the prestigious title of SLL Young Lighter and a cash prize of £1000. Each finalist will also receive a cash prize.
