CIBSE’s Annual Industry Dinner recently brought together distinguished professionals from across the built environment sector for an evening dedicated to collaboration, innovation, and leadership.
Held in the heart of London, the event was attended by CIBSE CEO Ruth Carter, President Fiona Cousins, President Elect Vince Arnold, the CIBSE Board, and CIBSE Directors, alongside a wide range of influential guests from across the industry.
The dinner is a key fixture in CIBSE’s calendar, offering an invaluable opportunity for leaders from consulting, engineering, academia, policymaking and beyond to come together, exchange ideas and strengthen professional ties.
As the challenges and opportunities facing the built environment continue to grow — from climate resilience to digital innovation — fostering these conversations has never been more important.
A highlight of the evening was a thought-provoking keynote speech by Sue Turner OBE, CEO of AI Governance.
Named among the Top 100 Women in AI Ethics and one of just 14 individuals globally accredited in the independent audit of AI systems, Sue brought a unique perspective to the evening.
Drawing on her expertise in AI ethics, leadership, and social justice, she challenged the audience to think differently about the role of technology in society.
Sue's address explored how the responsible use of AI can drive positive change in the built environment, while safeguarding the values of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.
In her remarks, Sue highlighted the growing intersection between engineering, technology, and policy — a theme that resonated strongly with the evening’s discussions. As AI and emerging technologies become more embedded in our work, the importance of ethical leadership and governance will only continue to grow.
The event also served as a celebration of CIBSE’s ongoing commitment to shaping a safer, more sustainable, and more innovative future for the built environment.
Through initiatives like the Building Performance Reimagined report, CIBSE is leading conversations that will define the next generation of building services and infrastructure development.
CIBSE would like to thank all who attended for making the evening a resounding success.
We look forward to continuing the dialogue, strengthening connections, and advancing our shared mission to create a better built environment for all.
