The CIBSE Seminar Series kicks off on Tuesday 30 August from 12pm AEST.
The series will focus on good strategies that can be applied to ordinary buildings, rather than 'great' or exceptional strategies that can only be applied to a few extraordinary buildings.
Summary of sessions and speakers below:
SESSION 1 – Industry tools such as Green Star, NABERS and CIBSE TM65 methodology to calculate and minimise embodied carbon in buildings.
Speakers: Ian Van Eerden, Northrop Consulting Engineers; Taryn Cornell, GBCA; Carlos Flores, NABERS; Matthew Sykes, Integral; Grace Foo, DeltaQ
SESSION 2 – Opportunities and barriers to existing buildings to avoid the embodied carbon of demolition and new construction and to improve the sustainability, comfort and health of existing buildings whilst exploring case studies
Speakers: Phil Senn, Woolworths; Walter van der Linde, Aurecon, Erik Moore, AMP Capital; Bec Fitzgerald, Investa Group
SESSION 3 – Current design practices and the journey towards net-zero. What constitutes a best practice building, and benchmarking what these attributes mean in terms of operational performance for every building type.
Speakers: Taryn Cornell, GBCA; Jamie Wallis, GBCA; Monique Alfris, NABERS; Malin Lindbald, Mott MacDonald; Lisa Hinde, Colliers
SESSION 4 – How buildings can better perform through modern methods of construction. This includes a look at timber and modular construction, standards like passivehouse and a review of technologies such as robotics and digital twins.
Speakers: Andrew Pettifer, Mott MacDonald; Quinten Jackson, Aurecon; Jessica Allen, Climasure; Shaun Burgess, Northrop Consulting Engineers
SESSION 5 – In-use strategies, including how the UK is approaching the next-zero imperative and ways to minimise the energy performance gap as well as the role of controls and analytical tools to deliver net-zero carbon buildings.
Speakers: Mark Crawford, MCL; Rodd Bunn, WME Boom Collective; Noni Nuriani, Kani Quest; Bill Grover, Cundall
All sessions are recorded and immediately available to replay and catch-up on by registered delegates if any session is missed.
