Mitsubishi Electric has achieved Embodied Carbon Verification (ECV) from CIBSE Certification for four of its product families, including the City Multi VRF units and Lossnay commercial ventilation systems. This third-party verification offers consultants greater confidence in product specifications and streamlines the processing time during project planning.

As an early adopter of CIBSE's ECV scheme, Mitsubishi Electric has demonstrated its commitment to advancing sustainability in the building services industry. Having been involved in the pilot phase of the initiative, the company plans to expand ECV certification across its portfolio later this year, including its Hybrid VRF and CAHV commercial heat pump products.

"Consultants are vital in helping decarbonise buildings to get us all to net zero,” explained Harvey Loyal, Market and Product Intelligence Specialist at Mitsubishi Electric. “As a manufacturer, we realise that we can help by providing straightforward, trusted access to accurate and verified embodied carbon data, along with certification, so that consultants can confidently specify the best, low-carbon products to their clients."

Kieran O'Brien, Director of CIBSE Certification ltd, said: ‘This milestone reflects our commitment to supporting the industry with trusted ECV tools for sustainable design. Mitsubishi Electric’s early adoption of Embodied Carbon Verification (ECV) demonstrates leadership in reducing environmental impact while enhancing confidence in product specifications through the use of CIBSE TM65’
