FUJITSU GENERAL AIR CONDITIONING (UK) LIMITED ( FGAC UK) has been awarded Embodied Carbon Verification (ECV TM65) for its J-VS VRF Series, including AJY040KCTAH, AJY045KCTAH and AJY054KCTAH. FGAC UK, following other well-known manufacturers has become an early adopter of CIBSE’s ECV scheme and plans to expand the verification across its portfolio in the future.

By securing this verification, the company is demonstrating its commitment to transparency in embodied carbon reporting, supporting industry-wide efforts to drive sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of building services.

The ECV Scheme is a CIBSE Certification's initiative to advance environmentally friendly practices within the built environment. It applies to MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health) products used in heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, electrical, and plumbing systems but excludes non-standard equipment such as photovoltaics.

CIBSE’s TM65 methodology, available here, provides manufacturers with the necessary tools to conduct self-assessments of their products’ embodied carbon. However, the ECV scheme adds an additional layer of credibility by offering independent verification of these calculations. Participation in the scheme allows manufacturers to validate their embodied carbon claims, demonstrating their sustainability credentials and commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

CIBSE Certification, a wholly owned CIBSE subsidiary and NABERS UK scheme administrator, uses profits generated from its operations to expand its services and fund CIBSE. Through initiatives like ECV and NABERS UK, CIBSE continues to drive the transition to a low-carbon built environment, ensuring that carbon reduction remains a priority for the industry.
