CIBSE, in collaboration with the Institute of Refrigeration, is delivering a vital training webinar on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 BST, titled: “DX Pipework Insulation: Optimising Refrigeration System Efficiency.”
With energy efficiency and carbon reduction high on the agenda, this session will explore how poor HVAC pipework insulation is contributing to high energy consumption and could hinder the UK’s ability to meet its Net Zero goals.
Industry experts have identified uninsulated or poorly insulated pipework as one of the easiest and most impactful retrofit opportunities currently being overlooked in buildings across the UK. The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) and the Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA) describe it as the "lowest of low-hanging fruit" for improving energy efficiency in buildings.
Speakers
• Chris Ridge, Technical Director at TICA
• Lawrence Leask FInstR, Kaizen Energy Consultancy and CIBSE LCEA Air Conditioning Inspector
Chris and Lawrence will explore what is likely the biggest opportunity to reduce energy use in heat pumps, VRV/VRF, and split unit systems. The session will cover real-world evidence of insulation failures, common issues and poor practices, and most importantly, best-practice solutions that significantly improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
"Thermal insulation can prevent heat losses, reduce energy consumption, and lower operational costs," says Chris Ridge.
This webinar is free to attend and all attendees will receive a CPD certificate after the event.
