Work is well underway to develop a tailored version of the CIBSE Electrical Services Engineering Training course for New Zealand, with an official launch planned for early 2026.

Having run successfully in Australia for the past two years under the guidance of Tommy Sailing, this course is now being carefully adapted to reflect New Zealand’s unique standards and regulatory context. Tommy is working with a local team to ensure the updated training meets the highest standards of compliance and relevance.

Electrical Consultant Ray Sidon (Torque IP) is leading updates to Associated Systems and Advanced Technologies, while sustainable lighting expert Michael Warwick (MAW Design) is reviewing sessions on Fundamentals of Lighting Design, Daylighting, and Artificial Lighting.

To further strengthen the course content, CIBSE ANZ is seeking additional subject matter experts to contribute to the review of key sessions including:

  • Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

  • Load Calculations

  • Authority Mains Supplies and Private Generation

  • Supply Arrangement and Switchboards

This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity to help ensure New Zealand’s electrical engineering professionals are supported with world-class, locally relevant training.
