With enrollment ongoing, the new course is due to start towards the end of September. The LET Diploma in Lighting Design is a 2-year distance e-learning course.

The diploma is designed to provide a platform for academic and professional progression in lighting, whether you are looking for a way into the industry or already have a general understanding of lighting.

The course has been developed by industry experts and is divided into distinct learning modules, covering all subject areas in manageable chunks. Many of the modules include case studies and there are a total of four assignments, spread over the 2-year course, culminating in a final design assignment and an examination.

The course requires between 8-10 hours of work a week, so whilst a challenge it is possible to complete alongside working.

The course is administered by the LET and moderated by University College London (UCL). It is recognised by UCL as a route to undertaking the MSc in Light and Lighting, with additional support from the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL), the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD).
