Getting Housing Off the Gas Grid
11 September 2019

In February 2019, the Committee on Climate Change published a report, entitled “UK housing: Fit for the future?”. An important part of this report is their proposal that no new homes should be connected to the gas grid from 2025 at the latest. Come and find out more from our panel of 4 expert speakers as they give their Power Hour opinions in short interesting presentations. These Power Hour opinions aim: (1) To provide insights into whether getting housing off the gas grid is achievable; (2) To provide insights into the views of the consultant, developer and utility providers; and (3) To provide insights into how and what the alternatives might likely be in the future. The names, affiliations and presentation titles of our panel of 4 expert speakers are described below:

Speakers

Heat Pumps - Do They Really Work?!
12 Mar 2019

Heat pumps are not a new innovation, however with the predicted fall in the carbon intensity of the grid they are quickly becoming the technology of choice for heating, hot water and cooling applications in buildings across all scales. Before we commit to this on mass in the UK, is it worth pausing and considering the risks and consequences based on what we know so far? Come and find out more from our panel of 4 expert speakers reflecting on their experiences so far and what the future might bring.

Operational Energy Use - Can Anybody Really Predict It?
15 Nov 2018

Operational energy predictions have long been an elusive task for the industry, challenging even the best designers, clients and operators. With increasing demand for accurate predictions of operation performance at the design stage, including recent changes in BREEAM 2018 and more demanding client briefs, we must ask ourselves the tough question: can we really predict operational energy performance?

Metering for Fame, Fortune & Happiness
July 12 2018

Can no one get metering right? We have to put them in, but does anyone check they're working or even look at them afterwards? Forget metering for Part L! This event provides essential insight for metering multi-let buildings, as “Part L metering” can be insufficient for tenant billing, particularly in relation to heat networks.
