Overview

Are you organised, enthusiastic, and interested in helping others learn and connect?

We’re looking for volunteers to help plan and deliver engaging technical events for our Special Interest Groups.

You’ll work with a friendly team of volunteers to bring technical events to life – anything from technical presentations, panel debates, or a peer-led talk. These events help professionals share knowledge, grow their networks, and stay up to date with the latest industry trends.

What you’ll do:

  • Help plan and organise events from start to finish
  • Coordinate with venues, speakers, and suppliers
  • Take care of logistics – like catering, tech setup, and registration
  • Work with the Group volunteers and CIBSE staff to promote events
  • Work with other professional bodies to create cross-industry events
  • Manage timelines, suppliers, and budgets
  • Attend events or arrange for volunteers to support on the day, or delegate to others on the committee
  • Collect feedback and help improve future events

What you'll gain:

  • Industry insights: Stay on top of the latest trends and innovations
  • Event planning & project management skills: Build real-world project management experience
  • Connections: Network with industry experts and professionals
  • Confidence: Develop your communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
