Number of Vacancies: CIBSE has 17 Special Interest Groups, which you can view here.

Responsibilities: A Special Interest Group committee should have at least 2 Elected Members, who are elected prior to the Annual General Meeting. 

The Special Interest Group Elected Members, in conjunction with the rest of their committee:

  • produce high quality technical events
  • work with the CIBSE regional committees to bring events to the Special Interest Group members in their local region
  • recommend updates to CIBSE knowledge publications and training
  • raise awareness of relevant policy to the CIBSE Technical team

Elected members can fulfil a variety of roles, according to the needs and activities of the SIG committee they sit on. Here are some examples of roles they can take on:

  • Education and Careers Champion
  • University Liaison
  • Events Organiser​
  • Membership Champion
  • Communications Champion
  • Newsletter lead​
  • Consultation Champion
  • Knowledge Generation Panel Liaison

Description: CIBSE's Special Interest Groups encompass topics that cut across our building services engineering disciplines to provide up-to-date information and resources. Each group offers a programme of events each year from which you can participate to fulfil your CPD, as well as communicating with their members about the relevant policy and guidance updates for their chosen area of interest. 

Number of hours required: Approx 12 hours in meetings and additional hours as required per year.
