At the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Heritage Group, held on 13 May 2025, the committee announced an organisational update: the formal merger of the Heritage Group and its Retrofit in Heritage subcommittee. This strategic decision was made to strengthen the integration and collaboration between the two committees, reflecting the increasingly intertwined nature of heritage conservation and retrofit practices. To mark this change, the group will now be known as the “Heritage and Retrofit Group.”
The new name more accurately represents the Group’s broadened scope and unified mission—to support the sustainable preservation of historic buildings while addressing the environmental and energy-efficiency challenges of the 21st century.
Members can be assured that this structural change will have minimal impact on their involvement. The core objectives, activities, and events of the Group will continue as before, with a continued emphasis on knowledge sharing, advocacy, and professional development. Existing initiatives and workstreams from both the Heritage Group and the Retrofit in Heritage subcommittee will be maintained and integrated under the new banner, ensuring continuity and a stronger platform for collaboration moving forward.
