The CIBSE School Design Group committee, after consultation with the School Design Group membership, have announced a new name; the CIBSE Education Design Group. This reflects the shift in focus from primary schools to all education buildings.
The School Design Group membership was sent the committee's proposal on 10 March 2025 with a link to respond and provide their opinions. The results were announced to members at the Annual General Meeting on 28 April 2025.
96% of respondents agreed that the proposed CIBSE Education Buildings Group should cover colleges of further education.
91% of respondents agreed the proposed CIBSE Education Buildings Group should cover universities.
95% of respondents were in favour of the CIBSE School Design Group expanding to the CIBSE Education Buildings Group.

The respondants were given the option to leave additional comments, many of which were positive in support though the difference in design of Higher Education and School buildings were a notable concern. The Education Buildings Group committee will ensure this is reflected in their planned activities for the Group members.
