SFE Middle East Hub: 'Enhancing the Energy, Weather and Fire Safety Performance'
The SFE Middle Event on 11th January 2024 was a great success, the presentations (incl. government officials from Dubai Land Department and Emirates Safety Laboratory) were well received and watched by over 115 guests.
SFE Middle East Hub Launch event
The SFE Middle East Hub hosted an incredibly successful launch event on 1 June 2023 which had over 70 people in attendance. The event was centered on a presentation titled, 'Laminated Safety Glass - Technical challenges from Control of De-Lamination to the Classification and Fabrication of Advanced Security Glazing'.

Hosted at the Park Hyatt Dubai, the event included presentations by some of the leading glass industry experts. The evening agenda which was arranged by the Middle East Hub of the SFE in collaboration with Kuraray as the event co-organizer and sponsor included:
- Introduction by the Middle East Chapter of the SFE - Mercedes Gargallo (Arup), Benjamin Beer (Werner Sobek, Chairman of Middle East Hub of the SFE), Andy Dean (WSP)
- Laminated glass challenges and prevention of de-lamination – Allan Gibson (Kuraray Europe)
- Quality control during laminated glass processing, blast & bullet resistant glazing from classification to fabrication – Pascoal D'Silva (Gulf Glass Industries Sharjah)
- The Collaborative Research Center SFB 1244 currently running the world’s first adaptive high-rise test tower with various novel and adaptive façade systems – Introduction by Benjamin Beer (Werner Sobek) and online presentation by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lucio Blandini (University of Stuttgart, Germany)
