Standards, Guidance and Papers

The technical committee input into the Construction Products Reform Green Paper. Many thanks for all those that sent in comments and participated in collating the response. This was a significant effort in this really important area where we, as an industry, still face significant challenges.

Following on from this and our meeting with MHCLG the SFE technical committee has a new group looking specifically at misleading or erroneous product technical information. It has been highlighted to us that members are still coming across poor technical documentation and are still having difficulties accessing test reports. Please do send us your experiences and the examples you come across - [email protected]. The group will then act on these as appropriate.

If there is a particular document you have an issue with, would like to assist in commenting on and have the relevant expertise please do get in touch at [email protected].

Façade engineering book - recommended reading

Our recommended reading for this issue is "Structural Glass Façades and Enclosures" by Mic Patterson. It offers a comprehensive look at the design, engineering, and implementation of structural glass systems, making it valuable for anyone in the architecture or construction fields.

SFE Technical Committee web page

The web page is now live and you can visit here SFE Technical Committee where you will find its members,  the mission statement and how to get in touch.
