The Society for Façade Engineering (SFE), has introduced a tailored route for MCIBSE CEng status, ensuring that at least one panel interviewer is a qualified façade engineer. Guidance is also available to help applicants understand the assessment criteria.

The Society for Façade Engineering (SFE), an initiative administered by CIBSE, as the leading industry body for professional expertise, is committed to elevating the standards of the façade engineering profession. As part of this commitment, they have introduced a tailored route for obtaining the Member of CIBSE (MCIBSE) Chartered Engineer (CEng) status through façade engineering. This initiative is designed to enhance the recognition and competence of façade engineers within the industry.

By applying for MCIBSE CEng status through this specialised route, applicants will also receive Member of the Society for Façade Engineering (MSFE) status. This dual recognition not only highlights the qualifications of the applicants but also underscores their expertise in the critical area of façade engineering.

To ensure a thorough and relevant assessment process, at least one member of the interview panel will be a qualified façade engineer. This approach guarantees that the specific experiences and skills of façade engineers are adequately understood and evaluated during the chartership assessment.

In addition, SFE have developed comprehensive guidance for façade engineers to aid applicants in navigating the assessment criteria. This resource aims to clarify how the criteria apply to façade engineering experience, enabling candidates to better prepare their applications and showcase their competencies.

Fostering a culture of competence and knowledge is essential for the advancement of the profession. By providing these tailored pathways and resources, SFE are reinforcing their dedication to supporting façade engineers in their professional development and ensuring that the industry remains the benchmark for excellence.

All aspiring façade engineers are encouraged to take advantage of this chartership route and to explore the guidance provided to enhance their applications. Together, we can continue to raise the standards of the profession and affirm our position as leaders in the built environment.

The guidance document can be found here and the full details can be found on the SFE website.
