CWCT Update Summer 2025

News
01 Jan 01

In this update, we will consider sustainability, H&S, the Building Safety Act, CWCT courses and our AGM.

Sustainability

As always, we are busy working to provide sustainability guidance for the façade industry.

New guidance on Module D

We are pleased to announce that new sustainability guidance has been published.  ‘Module D explained provides an overview of Module D, describing how Module D is defined and calculated, and why it is important to consider in whole life carbon assessment.  This guidance builds on the previous CWCT publication Life cycle modules explained’.

Embodied carbon tool

We are continuing to work with WSP to make an embodied carbon tool available to CWCT Members and hope to launch this soon.

Sustainability workstreams

Work is progressing on all our remaining Workstreams, including guidance on Refurbishment, Circularity and the Plan of Works.

Work is also underway on updating the CWCT Embodied Carbon Methodology following the publication of new RICS guidance last year.

Façade Health and Safety

We have recently published a new article on window restrictors as part of our Façade H&S Guidance.  As always, we are keen for feedback on this work and welcome suggestions for new topics that you think should be covered.

Gateway 2

In collaboration with the SFE, we continue to work on providing guidance in relation to the Building Safety Act.

Façade-specific details on why Gateway 2 applications have been unsuccessful are available here.  This can act as a checklist to help ensure future Gateway 2 applications contain the relevant information.  We really want to build on this and we need more feedback on rejections.  We cannot do this without your input, so please provide feedback here.

Courses

Our course programme for 2025 is available on the CWCT website and is open for bookings.

CWCT AGM

A date for your diaries – the next CWCT AGM will be held on Thursday 25th September 2025.  Further details will be announced soon.

A review of last year's event is still available here
