Welcome to the CIBSE UAE Student Design Competition 2024.We are excited to launch the CIBSE UAE Student Design Competition 2024—an exceptional opportunity for emerging engineers to influence the future of sustainable engineering across the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the broader GCC region.
This year’s competition invites you to channel your creativity and technical skills into the realm of green retrofitting. Participants are encouraged to develop designs for the sustainable transformation of existing buildings, turning them into showcases for cutting-edge sustainable engineering principles.
Building upon the key themes of COP 28—Innovation and Technology, Inclusion, Frontline Communities, and Finance—this year's competition introduces additional significant themes: Climate Resilience, Embodied Carbon, Energy Efficiency, and Functional Carbon. Your challenge is to enhance energy performance and efficiency in existing buildings while adopting sustainable, low-energy, and renewable technologies to minimize reliance on natural resources.
Participation: Submit your applications as individuals or as part of a collaborative team (up to 4 members). This flexibility encourages both individual creativity and collaborative innovation, fostering a diverse range of solutions in green retrofitting.
