Dr Hywel Davies presented to all the Home Counties on the Building Safety Act.
Emergency lighting is one of the most important life safety feature in a place expected to be occupied and/or accessed by people. As such, this technical presentation looks into the roadmap of what a successful emergency lighting design is along with touching on the roles and responsibilities of the numerous parties involved such as the client, designer, project manager, manufacturers, contractors, facilities manager, maintenance contractor and other professionals.

This event was organised by the Society of Light and Lighting and the HCSW Committee. A factory to demonstrate UK manufacturing followed by a CPD session. Refreshments were provided which included a sample of local British ales!

This was a London event for engineers, architects and construction professionals involved in the Construction industry.
Martin Weller, Associate Director at Atkins and Dr Hywel Davies, Technical Director at CIBSE gave an informative and insightful Technical Presentation on the Grenfell Tower Fire at the new Victoria, London offices of Atkins. Under discussion was:
- the cause of the fire
- products used in the refurbishment
- construction shortfalls
- Building Regulations
The event was attended by over 80 industry professionals and was keenly received.

Ant Wilson MBE, spoke at a lively event attended by over 80 CIBSE members and their guests. Ant covered a variety of very relevant topics that included:-

- Innovation within Building Services
- Client’s requirements and getting the design criteria right
Ant’s talk invoked almost 60 minutes of Questions and Answers from the floor.
