Maíra integrated the Indoor Environment Quality lab last year to conduct a study on comfort and productivity in working-from-home settings in Sydney. Her interests focus on thermal comfort and building performance. She has worked as a Consultant for Building Performance analysis, certification, and informative studies for Building Energy Regulation. Maíra holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Ashley is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Environmentalist with over 20 years’ experience, working in both UK and Sweden with international experience. He is a past Vice President of CIBSE and has been active in several CIBSE Groups including the HVAC Systems Group, Sustainability Group and Homes for the Future. Ashley chairs the Net Zero Carbon Expert Panel of New London Architecture (NLA) and the Building Services Engineers Declaration of the Climate and Biodiversity Emergency. Recent projects have included post occupancy evaluation of buildings, net zero strategies and advising on climate resilience.

Syed has an extensive background in both electrical engineering and digital technologies having worked for a global IT firm in the Middle East and as a consulting design engineer in Australia, Asia and the Middle East on a wide range of projects including data centres and mission critical facilities such as hospitals.

In addition to his engineering qualifications, Syed is an accredited Uptime professional with demonstrated expertise in ensuring the resilience and operational continuity of digital infrastructure. His engagement with AI includes the use of AI in parametric design and modelling, and as part of Cundall’s internal AI working group, researching and testing uses for AI in optimising workflows, navigating regulatory and design complexities, and enhancing asset lifecycle performance.

Nicholas Lander is a director of Climate Change Physical Risk & Resilience at Aurecon and has been working in the field of sustainability in the built environment for 25 years. 

He strives to make cities and communities sustainable - not just through incremental improvements in efficiency, but by understanding and getting the most out of the relationships they have with their surrounding areas, their people, their governments, and the way projects are delivered. This often means looking outside the project boundary and engaging other stakeholders.

He was a contributing author of the book Buildings for Extreme Environments:Arid, published by CIBSE, an associate editor of the Institution of Civil Engineers’ journal, “Engineering Sustainability”, and has written various papers and presented several times at international conferences on sustainability.

With over 20 years of experience in the UK, Canada, and New Zealand, she has a Master's from the Architectural Association and AI certification from ColumbiaX. Her work in computational design and AI has earned her the 2015 Visionary Prize from Quebec Association of Consulting Engineers and Autodesk’s 2020 40 Under 40. As a co-founder of New Zealand’s Digital Users Group and an AI Forum NZ Executive Council member, she champions AI in the AEC sector.

Evelyn Storey

Evelyn is Aurecon's Managing Director for Queensland, responsible for the leadership and performance of the Queensland business, including engineering project delivery, financial performance, client and staff engagement.

As Director, Sustainability, Evelyn is also leading Aurecon’s Sustainability in Design program, focused on embedding sustainability across all markets, capabilities and projects at Aurecon. She is responsible for ensuring all our project teams bring appropriate thinking, solutions and technology to respond to the important challenges of sustainability and climate response.
