Embodied Carbon Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important topic for all businesses, especially in the construction industry. New regulations and requirements aim to reduce our impact on the environment and climate, but often they are difficult to understand and implement. We want you to understand the language of sustainability and what the customers expect from you. This CPD will introduce you to the changing sustainability landscape and equip you with the knowledge to navigate it successfully and benefit from early adoption. What are carbon emissions and how we measure and report them? What are Scopes 1,2 and 3? What types of information are clients expecting from companies and how you can make sure you are requesting the right information from manufacturers. A big part of this equation is the embodied carbon of products (often contained within an EPD - Environmental Product Declaration). You will learn about what embodied carbon, how it is calculated and how designers and architects use this information to make decisions about the building materials and services they plan to use. You will also become familiar with TM65 a CIBSE methodology for calculating embodied carbon as well as with the structure of an EPD, how to read it and extract useful information. Themes covered in this CPD: • Carbon emissions • Carbon in business (Scope 1,2,3) • Carbon in construction (Embodied and Operational Carbon) • Product environmental information and how to use it (LCA, EPD, TM65) • How to read an EPD • How to compare products Applications Guide Attendees will gain an understanding of typical terminal unit options i.e. Fan Coil Units, Air Handling units, Chilled Beam & Under Floor & Trench Heating and the valve options available An understanding for the reasoning & benefits when deciding the valve setup An understanding of the valve options for a radiator circuit to include flow pre setting (with or without flow), DPCV and pressure independent Benefits of Grooved Jointing:- Learning outcomes: Demands of a changing market, Multi-skilled working practices, Heat free installation offerings, Labour, cost and time saving advantages, Versatility of build and installation, Compatibility of Heat Free systems Benefits of Heat Free Jointing:- Learning outcomes: Demands of a changing market, Heat Free Benefits, Multi-skilled working practices, Heat free installation offerings, Labour and time saving advantages Commercial Building, Static Commissioning valves, Hydraulic Balancing and optimisation:- Learning outcomes: An understanding of why we need commissioning valves in a system and how important they are in achieving design conditions. An understanding of what a balanced system is, and how they are constructed to achieve an efficient flow rate all around the system. You will be made aware of static valve product types that are available. You will have an understanding of how static commissioning valves are installed and used to achieve the optimum distribution of water. Press Fit Sprinkler Systems:- Learning Outcomes: The purpose of a sprinkler system, Types of sprinkler installation, Standards for sprinkler installation, How press fit technology works, Benefits of press fit systems,. How press fit can benefit sprinkler system installation,. Maintenance of sprinkler systems,. Specialist adaptors and sprinkler specific product Heat Distribution, Metering and Control in Multi Occupancy Dwellings:- Learning Outcomes: Climate Control Application & Overview, Application for Multi Occupancy Dwelling, How Efficient Heat Distribution Works, Metering and Energy Metering Units, Heat Interface Unit Models & Benefits, Improving Efficiency with Controls, Introducing Commissioning Providing greater efficiencies through hydronic balancing with advanced integrated bypass technology:- Learning Outcomes: What is commissioning, why its important and what applications are suitable for commissioning. Current issues when commissioning to consider and solutions to overcome these. What part actuators play in the role of commissioning valves. You will be able to read and understand flow charts from fixed orifice type flow measurement devices. Compatibility of Heat Free systems. Pre-Commissioning Cleaning- Understanding the design requirements and system considerations for Pre-commissioning cleaning to achieve efficient hydronic operation.
