Status of the construction industry in relation to Lockdown Restrictions
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement of a new UK national lockdown on 4 January 2021 below is a link to the relevant guidance that has been issued by the government:

Page 2 of the guidance confirms that where in-person attendance is required, and lists construction as one of those work areas, those areas can continue to operate.
Page 22 confirms that builders' merchants can continue to operate and remain open.
Tier 4 Restrictions
In a letter to the construction sector in December 2020 the government reiterated that Tier 4 restrictions do not prevent construction related work.

Statutory safety inspections of gas and electrical systems and indeed refrigeration systems covered by the F-gas regulations need to continue to be undertaken and the Tier 4 restrictions should in no way be used as a reason not to undertake these vital checks.
