As a key member of the Mission Critical team at AECOM in Sydney, Prateek is involved in the design of hyperscale data centres which power the modern world’s digital services. Beyond his day-to-day work in the sector, he is also keenly interested in the impact these new high-tech buildings have on the sustainability and economic spheres of the construction industry. Outside working hours, he can most commonly be found practicing his strokes at the local tennis club.

A/Prof Christhina Candido directs the SHE (Sustainable and Healthy Environments) Lab. Chris is an architect with a PhD in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) and in Environmental Science from Macquarie University (Australia). She is passionate about the design, experience and performance of spaces. Chris is a member of the IWBI Research Advisory group and WELL Faculty.
VANESSA CARMODY - SMITH
Program Manager, Office of the Building Commissioner
Vanessa is a Program Manager for the Office of the Building Commissioner leading the increase in education capability for the building and construction industry under the Construct NSW digital learning platform. This program is designed to be working with our industry partners to ensure we are developing courses that are needed for the changing industry today. Her team is working with TAFE NSW and other industry experts to ensure education is a tool to drive confidence back into the construction industry and everyone on the construction project is working together with a common goal. Vanessa is leading this program with her legal, investigative and regulatory compliance background with a passion for customer centric government programs.
Project Officer, Office of the Building Commissioner
I am a Project Officer in the Office of the Building Commissioner leading a research project surveying strata managers in NSW on building defects and their impacts for both the industry and the individual consumers. We are seeking to utilise the results to drive changes in the building and construction industry from the beginning of the design phase and for the lifetime of each building. I am also using my extensive experience in the education and government sectors in the UK, Australia and NZ to collaborate with TAFE NSW and industry subject matter experts creating courses on the Construct NSW digital learning platform.

Shruti is part of an innovative multi-disciplinary building services team working on projects with challenging scope including;
- sustainable design initiatives on a range of commercial and retail Green Star projects, including targeting 6-star ratings
- multi-residential projects with an average 8-star NatHERS Rating
- net-zero emissions strategies for buildings and portfolios
- assisting in projects targeting Platinum WELL Rating
- co-ordinating with builders and the wider team for Green Star submissions

Davina has led the Green Building Council of Australia since June 2019.
Davina is a property professional with a broad range of sustainability experience, from environmental projects, not-for profit boards and overseas community development work, spending 8 months working in the Indian Himalayas on the construction of a school which won multiple international awards.
Career highlights include a decade at Stockland which was a global leader in sustainability and therefore understands how the GBCA’s global leadership translates into real-world outcomes.
Davina has been recognised by industry awards including NAWIC NSW Sustainability 2016, PCA 2014 Future Leaders Award and Sydney University Engineering Young Alumni Award.
Senior Advisor for Plumbing and Hydraulic Services, Building Performance and Engineering Team,
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
Ross is based in the ‘coolest little capital in the world’ - Wellington, NZ - and works for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in the Building Performance and Engineering team.
His team are the stewards of the NZ Building Code, and his focus is on the parts of the Building Code system which relate to plumbing and hydraulic services.
His passion for this field began in the Royal NZ Army Engineers while training to be a plumber, gasfitter and drainlayer. Since hanging up his uniform and putting away my tools he has spent time working as a plumbing inspector, industry training assessor and hydraulic services design consultant.
Outside of work, he is a keen tramper and enjoys passing on his love for the outdoors to his kids while exploring the many amazing bush tracks around Wellington.
Ross recently joined The Society of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE) and is looking forward to meeting more members of the global CIBSE community.
