Mechanical Design Engineer

Your new company A well-established organisation with over 15 years of experience in commercial, industrial, and residential projects, typically ranging from £2 million to £9 million in value. Your new role As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and producing working design drawings for handover to contracts for delivery. You will maintain a close working relationship with the contracts team from start to finish and collaborate with the design team from inception to completion. Your role will involve maintaining and updating all design-related information, issues, and coordination with the project team. You will also attend design meetings with clients and use design software such as AutoCAD LT, Bentley Hevacomp, CIBSE, and BSRIA. What you'll need to succeed Strong understanding of client specifications and the ability to provide appropriate advice.Experience in establishing customer needs, considering cost and environmental value engineering. Knowledge of current and forthcoming industry legislation and standards. Ability to produce detailed design specifications, technical submittals, design development drawings/sketches, BWC information, construction drawings, and as-fitted drawings. Clear understanding of how designed systems will operate. Effective communication skills for attending design meetings with clients. Proficiency in design software/guides such as AutoCAD LT, Bentley Hevacomp, CIBSE, BSRIA, etc. Ability to prioritise matters, follow up on issues, and successfully negotiate with suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients. Experience in conducting site surveys and delivering design information and drawings within agreed timescales. Team player with the ability to actively contribute to meetings and raise concerns at their onset. Proven experience in the construction industry with a track record of career progression and project success. Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and operating within an ISO9001 Quality Management System. Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, low carbon design, and relevant British Standards. Excellent teamwork, communication, time management, marketing, and business development skills. Strong financial management skills and an appreciation of planning legislative requirements.
