Mechanical Design Engineer
Mechanical Design Engineer - To £50K We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a keen interest in building services engineering, architecture and environmental design for a consultancy in South London. The ideal mechanical design engineer will be committed to continued development, and be able to work independently on a variety of complex projects. Key Responsibilities: Conduct site surveys and verify existing HVAC and public health services. Redesign systems based on limited record information and restricted budgets. Produce as-built layouts and formalise CAD drawings. Perform engineering calculations to aid in system selection. Coordinate utilities applications and manage upgrades to existing systems. Communicate effectively with project architects and clients to meet changing requirements Ensure compliance with engineering practices, CIBSE guidelines, British standards and regulations. Current projects CAT A and CAT B commercial office refurbishments, from initial survey to detail design Production of as-built layouts Carrying out surveys on existing buildings and providing improved services, and better coordination of utilities. Design and selection of HVAC systems for industrial or warehouse projects. Attend schools and carry out IAQ inspections and overheating assessments. Skills and Competencies: Proficient in AutoCAD or Revit MEP. Good creative skills in Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp or Bluebeam. Able to use IESVe (preferably IES Apache HVAC) Able to bridge the gap between engineering, architecture and building physics. Keen interest in digital engineering and automation and scripting. Your New Role Your main purpose ofthe role is the design of mechanical engineering for building services. In this role, you willbe: Managing multiple projects and prioritising workload meet all assigned deadlines Surveying and reporting on mechanical systems in buildings Prepare technical specifications and drawings using industry-standard software Undertaking design calculations Design mechanical installations to meet British Standards Developing design proposals at sketch, detailed design and production stages Preparing tender documentation and reports Demonstrate a passion for mechanical design engineering and a willingness to learn Support senior members of staff in managing client and design team relationships You will need toundertake other duties as may be required to achieve objectives. Your new roleIt is as a Senior/ Principal Electrical Engineer that can carry out engineering design, the management of projects and small teams, working on multiple projects including multi-million pound schemes. You will support the directors by developing standards within the company, taking the lead in managing projects utilising your experience. You will act as design lead on projects, promoting design excellence, and you will mentor and develop the skills of the engineers in the team. What you'll need to succeedYou will have a strong technical core competence and background in project delivery. In addition, you will have a broad understanding of the principles of building services and other related building design disciplines and a desire to mentor and lead a team of Engineers.You must also be- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering/Building Services. Proven experience (6+ years) in electrical engineering design within the building services industry. Experience leading and developing senior and more junior engineers. Experience in the delivery of all phases of a project from inception to completion, but specifically, design and quality control focused and dealing directly with the customer and project teams.
