Energy Project Manager (Belfast) NIHE
Your new company The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) to recruit an Energy Project Manager. Based from their Belfast office within their Asset Strategy department. This organisation has more than 85,000 properties and employs 3,000 members of staff throughout NI. Your new role This is a temporary contract position for an initial contract duration of c.9-12 months.You will report to the Technical Innovation Manager with the responsibility of supporting and contributing to the development of their strategic and evidence-led approach to decarbonising energy use in the Housing Executive's social rented and other NI homes, along with supporting the delivery of pilot and demonstration projects. Some of the key responsibilities will include: Analysing written research material and data participating in developing, preparing, managing, and conducting structured data analysis, research, or testing proposals and installations around energy, carbon emissions, fuel poverty, sustainability, and innovation, to drive continuous improvement within Asset Management. Assist in developing costed programmes to complete insulation and energy system upgrades to large numbers. Assessment of Asset Management's construction projects through the preparation of post project evaluations. A full job description is available on request. What you'll need to succeed To be eligible for this post you must meet the following essential criteria:Applicants must provide evidence by the closing date for application that they meet the following essential criteria: Degree or equivalent (level 6*) qualification in Architecture/Building Surveying, data science, or a relevant Building/Construction/Engineering/Scientific discipline PLUS a minimum of 1 year's relevant experience** which could include salaried post graduate research OR BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma or equivalent* qualification in a relevant discipline PLUS a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience** OR Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning PLUS a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience** Candidates must demonstrate significant experience**, in at least 3 of the following areas: Writing technical reports, including analysis with significant quantitative content, or writing and publishing academic papers on research you have conducted. Project management, including control of performance, time, and budgets. Regulatory requirements in relation to construction projects particularly for physical installations, materials etc. Experience in data processing and data analytics, drawing actionable conclusions from large datasets, or programming of computer software, Apps, or advanced logic controls. This position offers an immediate start with weekly payment via BACS transfer with all business mileage expenses being reimbursed at 45p per mile. The role allows for an excellent work-life balance with the working hours amounting to 37 per week along with an annual holiday entitlement of 38 days inclusive of stats and Hybrid working. Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Role: The Senior Electrical Engineer will excel in engineering design and be comfortable leading projects from inception to completion, working with minimal supervision. They will also assist in planning and managing an appropriate resource to deliver projects. They will prepare conceptual designs of HV and LV electrical systems, lighting, fire alarms etc and be responsible for equipment selection and calculations and assist with the preparation of the client brief. The role also requires that they are confident giving technical presentations to the professional team as well as managing site coordination meetings with contractors. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work across multiple projects at any one time, and will prioritise work to ensure timely delivery. In addition, the Senior Electrical Engineer will work with the directors to contribute to the development of improved standards and procedures within the company. Responsibilities: Design Design safe, economical and reliable electrical systems to meet the contractual scope of work and comply with the applicable standards and regulations. Develop the preparation of clear and concise drawings, specifications and product schedules to define electrical systems. Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines (e.g. architectural, structural, mechanical & public health) to minimise conflicts and avoid costly revisions. Check tender submissions, drawings and technical submittals to ensure quality of products and equipment are in accordance with design. Undertake site visits and monitor progress against the design. Assist subcontractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications and resolve problems during construction. Management Work well within the team and manages medium-sized projects internally and externally in respect of deliverables, resources and financials. Assist with the review of appointment documents and scopes of service. Set targets and monitor workload against deliverables. Report any feedback or issues concerning either projects or team to the directors. Demonstrate a good level of oral and written communication (in particular well developed report writing skills) setting the highest standards of communication both internally and externally. Ensure compliance with the companys Quality Assurance procedures. Build relationships and contacts with potential sources of new work, maintain existing relationships. Confidently assist with the delivery of presentations and pitches. Health & Safety Demonstrate a sound understanding of the CDM Regulations, specifically the Designers requirements. Ensure completion of all risk assessment documentation in a timely manner. Report all accidents/incidents or near misses. Ensure adherence to all H&S requirements at all times. Use and maintain appropriate PPE. Demonstrate leadership in all aspects of Health & Safety. Training & HR Management Coordinate junior staff internally, providing mentoring and leadership and help to identify opportunities for junior staff to develop. Provide constructive feedback to junior staff. Promote team morale and encourage cooperation, collaboration and team working; Technical Demonstrate a good understanding of BSRIA BG6 and RIBA stages, Part L, BREEAM and renewable technologies. Demonstrate a general understanding of other MEP engineering disciplines, other than your own, sufficient to understand their impact in the overall design, and converse at a high level. Ensure proficiency in the use of the following systems; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Trimble (formerly Amtech) or Cymap, DIALux or similar. Develop ability to use AutoCAD and Revit. Attained or working towards Chartered status. Undertake Continual Professional Development by reading technical journals, attending relevant IEE/CIBSE technical seminars from time to time and attending in house seminars aimed at increasing technical and operational knowledge. Financial Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project costing principles and control changes during project development. Utilise strong financial management skills to negotiate additional fees with the client that may be due. Forecast resourcing via Union Square management database. Assist with preparation of fee proposals. Maintain required level of utilisation and complete timesheet on a weekly basis. Assist directors and principals to ensure that projects are invoiced promptly, and assist with debt collection. Project Interface Represent the company at design team and client meetings with confidence. Liaise with clients and others to obtain technical and operational information relating to the projects. Maintain a project overview at all times, able to provide updates on project status to client and others whenever required. Keep project documentation up-to-date and comply with file management protocols.
