Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)
Your New Company You will be working for a well-established BuildingServices consultancy in the heart of Leicester, who work in an expansiveportfolio of sectors which include; high-end residential, education, commercialand heritage. Within the sectors they work in, they provide services, whichinclude; Mechanical, Electrical, Sustainable Design and BIM. Your New Role Your main purpose ofthe role is the design of mechanical engineering for building services. In this role, you willbe: Managing multiple projects and prioritising workload meet all assigned deadlines Surveying and reporting on mechanical systems in buildings Prepare technical specifications and drawings using industry-standard software Undertaking design calculations Design mechanical installations to meet British Standards Developing design proposals at sketch, detailed design and production stages Preparing tender documentation and reports Demonstrate a passion for mechanical design engineering and a willingness to learn Support senior members of staff in managing client and design team relationships You will need toundertake other duties as may be required to achieve objectives. What You'll Need to Succeed You will need to have mechanical design experience. Key responsibilities include: Sending out enquiries to suppliers and sub-contractors. Taking off drawings and inputting data into estimation software. Analysing received quotations to ensure compliance with tender information. Completing tender analysis, including preliminary costs. Customising the master tender letter and summary to suit submission requirements and incorporating any specific clarifications. What you'll need to succeed Experience working for leading M&E sub-contractors. A strong mechanical background with relevant industry qualifications and experience. Mechanical Project Manager (Building Services)
Your new company A well-established organisation with over 15 years of experience in commercial, industrial, and residential projects, typically ranging from £2 million to £9 million in value. The company is known for its strong emphasis on quality and innovation in design and construction. Your new role As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the project programme for work on site, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will establish excellent working partnerships with suppliers, sub-contractors, clients, and all other stakeholders. Your role will also involve ensuring the quality of service and safety is paramount at all times, as well as project management including estimation.Main Tasks & Duties:Initial Site Set Up: Liaise on site with the Design & Estimation Engineer to examine design and formulate requirements to ensure work on site runs smoothly and efficiently. Manage site set up once the design package is agreed. Ensure the site is set up within the main contractor or sub-contractors. Arrange and attend any pre-site meetings considered necessary. Ensure the creation and management of the project programme. Ensure Health, Safety & Welfare is applicable and sufficient for the site, including Site Specific Risk Assessment and production of Method Statement. Ensure sufficient supply of labour to meet programming. Liaise with the Site Manager. Ensure site employees and sub-contractors are suitably trained and qualified for the work required for each specific project. System Support to Enable Site Set Up: Source cost-effective training providers. Ensure training and necessary qualifications and certificates are kept up to date. Monitor the success of the training provision. Maintain an approved list of sub-contracted labour and ensure all necessary information is recorded. Stay aware of current and forthcoming industry legislation and standards, health & safety law, and environmental legislation. Source cost-effective suppliers for plant, equipment (including PPE), and materials. Raise and address any quality issues relating to any supplier. Act as the main point of contact for all labour connected with sites. General Responsibilities: Ensure all work related to environmental issues is carried out in line with company policy. Complete, record, and file all required paperwork as per company policy and procedures. Adhere to the Quality Management system and report any non-conformance. Be fully conversant with all safety requirements of the site as per Health & Safety Policy and Procedures. Report any health & safety issues to the Department Manager. Adhere to company policies and assist in the training of others when required. Contribute to the introduction of new technology and methods of working. Undertake any additional training deemed necessary by the company. What you'll need to succeed Strong project management skills with experience in managing project programmes. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to establish and maintain working partnerships with suppliers, sub-contractors, clients, and stakeholders. Knowledge of health & safety regulations and environmental legislation. Proficiency in managing site set up and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Ability to source cost-effective suppliers and training providers. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
