Smoke & Ventilation Project Estimator

Your new role As a Smoke & Ventilation Project Estimator, you will support operations and internal teams by producing accurate and compliant quotations for clients. Your main responsibilities will include: Producing accurate estimates and forecasts for MEP systems. Writing structured quotations for clients. Reading and interpreting site drawings and reports. Keeping up to date with industry legislation. Preparing bills of materials and quotations from client specifications. Building successful working relationships with clients and internal teams. Prioritising workload to meet client deadlines. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you should have: A background and experience in estimating, with MEP systems experience being advantageous. Familiarity with compiling rates from first principles. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Strong customer relations skills. Good IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft software. Excellent communication skills for face-to-face meetings, telephone, and MS Teams communications. The ability to work independently and as part of a team. A good understanding of industry standards. Excellent timekeeping and time management skills. Self-motivation and a team player attitude. Ideally, a background in passive fire protection. Qualifications and Knowledge: Computer literacy in software such as Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word (Office 365, Bolster or similar systems are an advantage). Preferably a construction-related qualification to at least NVQ Level 3 or ONC. Ideally, a minimum of 6 months' experience in a similar role. Previous administration/operations experience is essential. Willingness to learn and undergo training in the construction industry. Senior Project Manager

Senior Project Manager required to work on an exciting range of projects across Scotland. Compliance Officer

Job Title - Compliance Officer Salary - £38,000 - £44,000 Location - Bristol Main Job Purpose The role holder works as part of a team that ensures university services and infrastructure are legally compliant and fit for purpose, to enable research, teaching and learning to take place in a well-maintained, safe and secure environment, whilst being mindful and contributing to the university's net-zero carbon plan. They apply building services regulations and best practice to manage compliance risk in specific service areas and liaise with team members to coordinate activities within the team to ensure all areas of compliance are covered. They manage and coordinate compliance contracts and work delivery in liaison with schools and facilities, providing advice and support whenever necessary. Job Responsibilities Plan, organise, monitor and review compliance work carried out by specialist contractors and staff across the University estate covering gas and mechanical systems and inspections, including managing day-to-day 'works' undertaken by contractors. Design and deliver a variety of toolbox talks and training to staff in respect of compliance testing and methods, to maximise effectiveness, quality, safety and efficiency. Act as the first point of contact for technical information and guidance in relation to compliance and liaise, communicate, influence, negotiate and build working relationships across the University and with third parties to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures, approved codes of practice, industry best practice and guidelines. Decide on the best approach to assure compliance, taking into consideration wider implications regarding departmental or residential disruption, and changing priorities or situations within the estate to achieve the required result. Analyse and interpret compliance tests and inspections information to produce compliance reports, supply compliance data and information to stakeholders and monitor and maintain records, reports and audit information to meet requirements. Carry out regular internal audits, monitor, audit and review resulting remedial work from compliance tests and inspections and respond to problems through the selection of different solutions. Develop and continuously improve data management systems to ensure contractors and staff carry out inspections and tests in a competent, safe and timely manner. Act as condition knowledge base for all gas and mechanical systems, maintain a record of the overall condition of each installation and plan refurbishment/upgrade needs with staff responsible for policy, advise senior staff and contribute information to the estate 'Condition Record' and asset registers. Provide specialist technical advice and recommendations within legislation and best practice to support informed decision-making in the Generic Project Requirement process and set University policy. React to breakdowns and failures of gas and mechanical assets and (as far as reasonably practical) attend complex emergency situations outside normal working hours when specialist input as an approved person is required by first line responders. Keep abreast of all legislation updates and changes relating to areas of responsibility, advise and update senior staff on changes/implications and maintain university registration with relevant statutory authorities. Prepare risk assessments and method statements for all areas of works, approve required permits, review and approve contractors' risk assessments and method statements where management responsibility is held and act as Construction Design and Management Coordinator for contracts where management responsibility is held. Additional Responsibilities Act as an approved person for natural gas to assess dangerous situations and advise on appropriate actions for gas-responsible persons.
