Electrical Design Engineer

Your new role As an Electrical Building Services Engineer, you will be responsible for: Working on a wide variety of construction projects throughout the UK. Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, and tender documentation for electrical services as part of a project team. Understanding regulations and standards and keeping up to date with future changes. Coordinating with other disciplines and specialists. Undertaking feasibility studies. Preparing detailed budget costs and defined estimates if required. Delivering regulatory obligations associated with Building Regulations Part L and BREEAM. Working with mechanical/energy/Part L engineers to derive low energy design solutions. Attending design team and project meetings on behalf of the company. Preparing specifications, equipment schedules, drawings, and information to installation and fully coordinated standards (RIBA Stage 5). Undertaking site quality and legislative inspections and preparing associated reports. Delivering exceptional technical and commercial solutions. Preparing technical reports, specifications, contract documents, etc. Liaising directly with clients and contractors. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you should have: Experience in electrical building services design (including emergency lighting and fire alarm design). Knowledge and understanding of BS7671. Hands-on knowledge of AutoCAD, Dialux, Relux, Amtech, and/or Hevacomp. Design consultant or contractor background. Experience in general electrical building engineering services. Team player with the ability to operate at an individual level. Good experience in electrical detail design and performance design. Confident and outgoing personality, able to be client-facing and build relationships with our valued client database. Desirable Skills and Experience Experience in using Revit MED or Magicad. Member of IET or CIBSE or working towards this. Good organisational and time management skills, able to manage projects, outputs, and work within deadlines. Experience in the building services design environment. SAP and/or SBEM experience and LZC reporting would be advantageous. What you'll get in return 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Senior MEP Design Manager
Are you a Mechanical, Electrical, or Public Health Engineer, looking to pivot into a client-side role? This developer identifies, acquires, develops, and manages iconic hotels, residential projects, and commercial projects across central London. Due to growth, they are looking for an additional Senior MEP Design Manager to join their in-house design team. The technical team includes Operations Directors, MEP Design Managers, Architectural Design Managers as well as MEP Coordinators and MEP Site Supervisors. As a Senior MEP Design Manager, you'll lead projects from Stage 2 to Completion, managing the external design consultants and specialist subcontractors. You'll ensure projects are delivered well, ensuring the optimum balance of cost efficiency, robustness, performance, and operating costs. You'll also assist the Quantity Surveyor in procurement, tender analysis, and recommendation of appropriate contractors and assist the site team with commissioning, ensuring that all systems are functional and reliable. Requirements 8 years' experience working as a Mechanical (HVAC/Building Services) Design Engineer; Electrical Design Engineer, or PH Engineer. Currently working for a consultancy, design and build contractor, or a developer. Building Surveyor (Part-Time) - Gloucestershire
Your new company How does working across a Grade 1 historic landscape and internationally important tree collection sound to you? Joining the team at Westonbirt National Arboretum will provide exactly this opportunity. This site includes almost 40 built assets and infrastructure supporting a vision in education, participation, and conservation. Several buildings are tenanted which includes the restaurant, shop, and three houses. There are a number of architectural styles and unusual buildings including heritage buildings from the 1850's, multiple timber frames including the community shelter, and a number of award-winning buildings including the Welcome Building, build in 2014 and awarded BREEAM 'Excellent', and the award-winning Wolfson Tree Management Centre. Your new role Your day-to-day job will be varied and will include overseeing and organising maintenance of the existing buildings, procuring and supervising contractors to ensure that the built estate is maintained and enhanced. Joining a small capital development team will mean that you'll work closely with a programme manager, project manager, and works supervisor. You will lead on planning, delivery, and supervision of estates planned and reactive maintenance work. This includes delivering projects to help achieve net-zero by 2040. Plan, procure, implement, and monitor programmes of work including planned and reactive maintenance to a high standard ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. Active communication with different teams to co-ordinate works. Deliver professional building management across the estate including the management of utilities and services by the most efficient means. Administer contracts using NEC4 forms of contract. Improve financial and environmental sustainability working towards Net Zero. Support capital investment team with ongoing works, which could include business case development. Keep project and asset records up to date on GIS Forester Web and on SharePoint. Regularly monitor contractor health and safety. What you'll need to succeed Previous experience working in a similar Building Surveying or equivalent role (planning, supervising and instruction of maintenance, or development works). Proficient knowledge in building pathology, defect diagnosis, specification writing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience of forecasting and managing budgets for capital and revenue works. Procure and contract manage building works contracts. Understanding building health and safety, overseeing contractors and statutory compliance. Either achieved, or making progress towards chartered status (MRICS / MCIOB).
