Mechanical Design Engineer (Manufacturing) calculation
Our client is a global leader in high-precision manufacturing for the semiconductor and geological science industries. Recent investment has been made in new production systems to support their future growth, which has resulted in a vacancy for an experienced mechanical design engineer with solid calculation experience. Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with calculation experience Based on the outskirts of Glasgow, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join this market-leading precision materials technology company. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this position will be responsible for: * Devising and developing new complex designs for industrial machinery and modifying existing designs in partnership with their electrical and electronic engineers * Producing accurate detailed design documentation using 3D CAD to allow for manufacturing and assembly, so the product becomes legally compliant. * Building and testing of prototypes * Identifying and evaluating new materials, methods and suppliers * Improving product quality * Calculation experience, so assessments of design are carried out to ensure the product is safe prior to assembly. * Providing cross-functional technical support KEY REQUIREMENT - This is not simply a design role for creating visual designs and how they are put together - but experience in evaluating designs through calculations to ensure the designs are safe, able to handle the loads they are being subjected to and fit for purpose is essential. Ideal Skills and qualifications: * Qualified to degree level or similar in a Mechanical design or Product design engineering discipline * A minimum of 8 years' experience in a mechanical design role with an emphasis on calculation experience * Experience of designing within a high-value, low-volume manufacturing environment * Experience in the design of electro-pneumatic and electro-mechanical systems * Substantial 3D CAD experience, Solidworks preferred * Proven problem-solving skills * Able to work with a cross-functional team In return, the successful candidate will join a world-leading, long-established company, where your efforts will be recognised and rewarded through an excellent benefits package. Mechanical Project Manager (Building Services)
Your new company A well-established organisation with over 15 years of experience in commercial, industrial, and residential projects, typically ranging from £2 million to £9 million in value. The company is known for its strong emphasis on quality and innovation in design and construction. Your new role As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the project programme for work on site, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will establish excellent working partnerships with suppliers, sub-contractors, clients, and all other stakeholders. Your role will also involve ensuring the quality of service and safety is paramount at all times, as well as project management including estimation.Main Tasks & Duties:Initial Site Set Up: Liaise on site with the Design & Estimation Engineer to examine design and formulate requirements to ensure work on site runs smoothly and efficiently. Manage site set up once the design package is agreed. Ensure the site is set up within the main contractor or sub-contractors. Arrange and attend any pre-site meetings considered necessary. Ensure the creation and management of the project programme. Ensure Health, Safety & Welfare is applicable and sufficient for the site, including Site Specific Risk Assessment and production of Method Statement. Ensure sufficient supply of labour to meet programming. Liaise with the Site Manager. Ensure site employees and sub-contractors are suitably trained and qualified for the work required for each specific project. System Support to Enable Site Set Up: Source cost-effective training providers. Ensure training and necessary qualifications and certificates are kept up to date. Monitor the success of the training provision. Maintain an approved list of sub-contracted labour and ensure all necessary information is recorded. Stay aware of current and forthcoming industry legislation and standards, health & safety law, and environmental legislation. Source cost-effective suppliers for plant, equipment (including PPE), and materials. Raise and address any quality issues relating to any supplier. Act as the main point of contact for all labour connected with sites. General Responsibilities: Ensure all work related to environmental issues is carried out in line with company policy. Complete, record, and file all required paperwork as per company policy and procedures. Adhere to the Quality Management system and report any non-conformance. Be fully conversant with all safety requirements of the site as per Health & Safety Policy and Procedures. Report any health & safety issues to the Department Manager. Adhere to company policies and assist in the training of others when required. Contribute to the introduction of new technology and methods of working. Undertake any additional training deemed necessary by the company. What you'll need to succeed Strong project management skills with experience in managing project programmes. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to establish and maintain working partnerships with suppliers, sub-contractors, clients, and stakeholders. Knowledge of health & safety regulations and environmental legislation. Proficiency in managing site set up and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Ability to source cost-effective suppliers and training providers. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
