Graduate Mechanical Engineer – Building Services Location: Cambridgeshire Salary range is £25k to £30k + Benefits + Training & Development Support A well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join their growing Building Services (MEP) team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent or soon-to-be graduate to begin their engineering career with a company delivering technically challenging and high-impact projects across multiple sectors. The Opportunity The successful candidate will join a collaborative engineering team responsible for the design and delivery of innovative mechanical systems in the built environment. From day one, they will contribute to live projects and receive close mentorship from experienced engineers to support their development. Project sectors include: Advanced Manufacturing & Automotive Data Centres & High-Tech Facilities Commercial & Industrial Developments Retail & Mixed-Use Schemes Residential & High-Rise Buildings Education & Campus Environments Key responsibilities include: Supporting mechanical design calculations and modelling using industry tools Assisting with technical drawings, specifications, and reports Participating in surveys and on-site inspections Collaborating with internal project teams and external stakeholders Attending design meetings (with guidance and support) Contributing to sustainable, energy-efficient design solutions Candidate Profile A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (minimum 2:1 expected or achieved) Applications are welcomed from 2024 graduates or students graduating in 2025/26 Strong attention to detail, with good problem-solving and communication skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Familiarity with design software such as Revit MEP, EDSL Tas or IES VE is desirable but not essential Passion for sustainability and engineering innovation Development & Progression The consultancy places a strong emphasis on career development and continuous learning. Your new role To survey domestic properties and identify repairs, maintenance, and adaptation requirements in the homes of older, vulnerable, and disabled customers and advise upon appropriate remedial work and likely costs. To consult with customers and other parties regarding repairs, improvements and adaptations to their homes and prepare schedules of work and specifications, as required, taking into account their individual resources, needs and wishes and financial, legal, environmental/sustainability, building regulation and restoration matters. To obtain quotations for work, evaluate these quotations and advise the customer so that they may choose appropriate solutions to their needs. Experience of successfully delivering domestic residential projects requiring building regulation, planning and other permissions and in accordance with CDM requirements. Skilled in diagnosis of building defects, preparation of schedules of remedial work and project management to completion.
