Back to Nominations for CIBSE Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals

Key participants in the Medals process

The Nominee

The Nominee is a corporate grade member of CIBSE or one of its Societies (i.e. Associate, Member, or Fellow), being nominated (proposed) for a Medal. To be eligible, the Nominee must have made distinguished and notable contributions to the field of the built environment or have provided exceptional service to CIBSE. The Nominee’s achievements should demonstrate a significant impact on the profession and the Institution.

The Proposer

The Proposer is the individual who initiates the nomination process. He/she must be a corporate grade member of CIBSE or one of its Societies (i.e. Associate, Member, or Fellow). They are responsible for drafting and submitting the nomination form, ensuring that it comprehensively details the Nominee's qualifications, accomplishments, and contributions. The Proposer typically has an in-depth understanding of the Nominee’s work and impact, and their role is to present a strong case for why the Nominee deserves the Medal.

The Endorser

The Endorser lends their professional support to the nomination by providing a second, authoritative perspective. They are tasked with affirming the Nominee’s qualifications and validating / reinforcing the statements made by the Proposer. Endorsers should also be corporate grade members of CIBSE or one of its Societies (i.e. Associate, Member, or Fellow), who can offer an impartial and informed viewpoint that strengthens the case for the Nominee’s Medal.
