Nominations for CIBSE Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals

CIBSE's Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals recognise exceptional, outstanding, and distinguished service to CIBSE and the wider industry.

Each year, CIBSE awards Medals to recognise and honour members who have made significant contributions to the built environment and the Institution. These awards celebrate professional service, dedication, leadership, innovation, and excellence, reflecting the Institution's mission to promote and support the engineering of sustainable, safe, and efficient buildings.

Nominations are invited from and for CIBSE Associate, Member and Fellow grade members, including those from within CIBSE Societies. The Medals celebrate excellence across all sectors influencing the built environment, ensuring broad industry recognition.

Proposals for 2025 CIBSE Medals will open in mid-February until Friday 21 March 2025.

Before starting your medal proposal, please check that you have all the required information ready:

  • Type of CIBSE Medal proposed
  • Nominee’s details
  • Justification statements with concrete examples, using quantifiable achievements, dates, and detailed descriptions to substantiate claims.
  • Details and confirmation from the four Endorsers.

Medal recipients are announced ahead of the prestigious President’s Awards Dinner, where they are formally presented with their medals. The 2025 Medals will be presented at the President’s Awards Dinner on 10 October 2025, an annual event celebrating excellence across the CIBSE community.  The CIBSE Medals are presented by the CIBSE President, Chief Executive and senior CIBSE representatives, including members of the Board and Council. Confidentiality of Nominations:

We encourage Proposers to maintain the element of surprise when nominating someone for a CIBSE Medal. Keeping the nomination confidential helps ensure a more genuine and heartfelt recognition of the Nominee’s contributions. It also prevents any undue expectations or disappointment in case the nomination is not successful.

By keeping the process discreet, the Nominee will experience the full impact of being honoured by their peers when the Medal is announced. If additional information is required for the nomination, proposers can seek input from colleagues or professional contacts without revealing the purpose.
