BIM4FM group reveals results of BIM survey

The BIM4FM group has announced the results of its latest survey, which reveals current views and perceptions about building information modelling (BIM).The group was set up to champion the involvement of facilities management with BIM and Government Soft Landings (GSL) projects.

Chairman of the BIM4FM group Geoff Prudence commented: "It was encouraging to see that 65 per cent of respondents had heard of BIM, but overall we were surprised to find that 26.5 per cent stated they had already used it on a project.

"On discussing these findings with the individual organisations that make up the BIM4FM group, we felt that this did not necessarily reflect the conversations we had with our members," Prudence said.

Interestingly, the report identified that, despite the positive perception of BIM, 63.2 per cent of respondents were uncertain as to whether they would use it in the future with only 23.5 per cent of respondents saying they would be using it.
