This Code of Practice focuses on integration of one or more electronic devices as connected system within residential and small commercial buildings, according to client-defined functionality systems.

Objectives of the consultation

The Code of Practice covers currently available technology and the process for integrating existing technologies such as entertainment, convenience, safety and security, comfort or energy-saving devices. It addresses considerations relevant to the technical specification, design, installation, commissioning, handover, operation and maintenance of connected systems in buildings. It applies to homes, multi-dwelling units, small-and-medium enterprises (SME) and small-office-home-office (SOHO) uses.

The public consultation on the draft Code of Practice closed on 7 March 2016. The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is now analysing collected comments.
